Hi, my name is Alan!
I am a Canadian-based character designer and educator with over 20 years of experience helping bring animated stories to life. My career has taken me to studios such as Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, and Sony Animation, where I have worked across the entire character design pipeline, from early concept exploration to model sheets, turnarounds, and expressive posing.
Throughout my time in the industry, I have learned from an incredible range of directors, artists, and designers, gaining practical techniques and workflows used in real production environments. Today, my goal is to make that knowledge accessible to artists who want to grow both technically and creatively.
I have also spent many years teaching character design and life drawing at the college level. Teaching is just as important to me as drawing itself. I focus on helping artists develop strong fundamentals, clear design thinking, and the confidence to create characters that feel alive and authentic.
