Hi, my name is Alan!
I am a Canadian-basedΒ character designer and educatorΒ with overΒ 20 years of experienceΒ helping bring animated stories to life. My career has taken me to studios such asΒ Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, and Sony Animation, where I have worked across the entire character design pipeline, from early concept exploration to model sheets, turnarounds, and expressive posing.
Throughout my time in the industry, I have learned from an incredible range of directors, artists, and designers, gaining practical techniques and workflows used in real production environments. I have also spent many years teachingΒ character design and life drawingΒ at the college level, helping artists developΒ strong fundamentals,Β clear design thinking, and the confidence to create characters that feelΒ alive and authentic.
Today, my goal is to make that knowledgeΒ accessible to artistsΒ who want to grow both technically and creatively.
